THE DIGITAL RECORDINGS REVOLUTION, SOME CONNOISSEURS TO APPRECIATE. 1990 – 2020 By Fred Kyei Mensah

Few days ago, i decided to honour some people who have contributed to the growth of the Ghana Music Industry through the digital age of recording music. Thanks to those who read and reminded me of certain personalities.
Panji Anoff is a pioneer in this digital field of recordings. His film,”Back home again” in 1992, used great music as soundtrack. How can we not appreciate the following, Casely Hayford, TVO Lamptey, David Kwamena Bolton and Fiifi R Coleman,whose state of the art studio equipment broke all protocols, Opara,the talented blind producer, Shadrach Yawson(Shaa) , Robert Otoo(Soul Winners)late Danny Nettey, Dela, James Ampah Bening, Simon Nettey, JMaster Jay all of Kay’s Frequency, Eric Antonio, chief pianist and Phillip Vormawor.
The late Kojo Aquai, was credited to have brought the remnants of the studio equipment used in recording ” We are the World” to Ghana to help in the digital recording space.
Guys from the Netherlands like Kweku Mensah,whose guitar signature resonates on a lot of great recordings can never be forgotten, Sloopy Mike Gyamfi, also played a role.
The Hush Hush studio played a significant role. Great guys like D’hammer, Hubert Kofi-Anti , Agyingo Studioz and others were solid!
In Kumasi, Morris D’Voice revolutionized the use of auto tune to its best, Bassey Mix, K Gyasi, Amoako, Magic Sam, Roro Buddy Gh cannot be forgotten.
Great instrumentalists like, H.Bessa Simons late Joe Palopa, Joe Mpompo, Ato(Megastar) Nana Fynn, Odasani Offei, Edmund Kwafo Offei, Vinny Kay Gh , Kaywa, AlltunezGh NaCee, Bronzy Bee , Daniel Taco Grahl, Qwick Action, KillBeatz, Late Lord Pinto, Ras Marlenze, Francis Osei, Joseph Magnom , Pynsche Onez, Voltage Kwadwo ,Oshogbo, Charles Robert Quaye, Drr DeThompson Ddt did great.
Big ups to Akablay Akblay, John Kennedy Ntumy, Owura Kay, Enoch Owuraku Kissi, King Shabo, Col Faat, Okoe, Shikome whose contributions to the growth of digital music recordings as session men, can never be underestimated.
Lovely back up vocals ladies like Meg Gbindey Adom, Nana Ama Adadziewaa , Mary Agyepong, Edna, Dinah Hammond, Shee, Lady Zuuzu, Eva, Marian, Celestine Donkor II and others helped. Will do a special tribute to them.
Will acknowledge everyone that i can remember in the next edition. Count yourself as part. Leaving no one behind.
