THANK YOU FOR LISTENING TO OUR CRY – BRA PAUL TO NANA ADDO

In the wake of the covid-19 pandemic, gospel artiste, Bra Paul has commended the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo for heeding and listening to Ghanaians on measures to bring comfort to citizens especially during this period of partial lockdown. The artiste in an interview praised the president at least for listening to his plea to absorb electricity bills for the vulnerable.

“I commend the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo for the drastic measures and incentives to help ease citizens from unequivocal hardships in the wake of the covid-19 world spread resulting in a partial lockdown in certain areas in Ghana.

Indeed, he can’t solve all the problems we might face as citizens in this period of a partial lockdown but, we must commend him for proving to most of us that he’s a listening president.

I was unhappy with his earlier decision to absorb water bills for the next three months and not electricity. To me, I felt it will benefit tap owners and not the vulnerable with no taps in their homes. I gave reasons as to why I believe free electricity will be preferred over water by Ghanaians in an article published by www.smilecelebs.com and other blogs on Tuesday 7, April, 2020. However, I was excited to hear the president on Thursday, 9, April, 2020 during his sixth address to the nation on the wake of the coronavirus pandemic announcing Free electricity for the poor(less than 50KW)
50% waiver
for the rest of Ghanaians for the next few months. This initiative undoubtedly will benefit the vulnerable more than we thought and will help individuals stay indoors as they have electricity to entertain themselves” he explained.

The gospel artiste, however, pleaded on  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to reconsider his decision to shutdown churches in this fight against covid-19.

“Though the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has heeded to all my advice in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, I still plead with him to lift the ban on churches to allow fellowship especially during this season of mourning our savior Jesus Christ. We can never win this fight without the presence of God. Yes, we can be in our homes to pray but as I said earlier, God listens more when his people gather in sanctuaries to pray. He ( Nana Addo) can give directives to ensure that congregants adhere to the directives of the World Health Organization (WHO) to avoid the spread of the virus. For social distancing for instance, a church of about 200 sitting capacity can be reduced to a 40 sitting capacity. with this, the church, instead of one service in a day can do about five services just so each member can get the opportunity to pour their hearts to God. I believe if the president will heed to this advice, it will benefit not only me but the entire nation especially in the fight against this deadly pandemic” he concluded.

The artist also believes proper social distancing can be done in the church
