On Wednesday renowned producers Appietus and Jay Q took to social media in a live session to celebrate their works from the past.
Dubbed #BehindTheHitz, the trend has triggered a social media buzz which has seen rapper Sarkodie invite Zapp Mallet, Jay Q, Appietus, Kaywa, Hammer, and MoG to join the challenge.
The BET Award-winner announced “BehindDaHitz” – a virtual battle among hitmakers – and called on some award-winning music producers to also jump on this challenge in Ghana.
The rapper called on producers such as, Zapp Mallet, Jay Q, Appietus; Kaywa, Hammer, and MoG.
But Zapp Mallet who seems to be the oldest among the list, lashed out at Sarkodie, describing his initiative as disrespectful.
Zapp, who is obviously unhappy about the comparisons, told Sarkodie to ‘show some respect’ because he will soon get there.
There is something called respect which is lacking in Ghana today. For instance you don’t compare somebody who was churning out hits before you made Kindergarten with your mate who just started a couple of years back. Show some respect. You will also get there

Popular music producer Appietus does not think rapper Sarkodie disrespected Zapp Mallet when he paired him with some producers.
The producer noted that there is absolutely nothing wrong with comparing music producers irrespective of how long they have been in the music industry.
But ‘Root I’ took it to social media and advice Appietus to apologize to Zapp Mallet read the full post below;
Appiah Dankwah Appietus you should understand that, in spite of your talent and knowledge in your field of work, none of these new school singers, the likes of Kwami Eugene, King Promise, Kidi and Kelvyn Boy will trust you with a song. That doesn’t mean you’ve spent. In the Ghanaian mentality, ‘your time pass’. How does that feel to hear?
But you’re great. In fact, the giants the likes of Amandzeba, Lumba, Rex Omar, Kojo Antwi appreciate you more, and it’s for the fact that they know how to mine greatness out of you. You’re great. That can’t be taken from you.
But Zapp Mallet is way too much of weight for Appietus to carry. Appiah, none of the men in your league comes anywhere close to Zapp. Don’t make that mistake of being misled by fans to think you’re his mate. If these millennials don’t know who Zapp is, you do. Your attempt at throwing shades at Zapp is ridiculous. Zapp may not be in the news today but he’s greater as a musician, producer and sound engineer than all of you young ones put together. You’ve not been fair to the man. Please apologize to him. I came to your wall to post this there without success so I’m posting it here on mine
