Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artist known by his stage name Shatta Wale (formerly Bandana) has issued a statement full of caution to Bloggers who have cultivated a habit of publishing creatives’ intellectual property for patrons to access it without using the well arrayed method.
The Melissa hit maker stated that, all websites should do away from publishing his songs for free download, as every day, millions of songs are downloaded illegally, depriving musicians of their credited work which is an infringement of copyright. He revealed that, every song he releases will be on his official digital music store accounts, thus Boomplay Music, iTunes, Audiomack, Deezer , YouTube, Apple Music, Spotify, etc.
According to him, if a blogger has not been granted any legal right, copying the songs and uploading it for free on any platform is prohibited and unlawful that may attract some lawsuit. He stated that, all rights are reserved to his digital store media managers. The reggae & dancehall musician made these statements in a Facebook post .
Shatta Wale revealed that, illegal downloads can hurt a musician’s career, especially if they’re just breaking out in the business and need to depend on the sales of their songs to be successful. According to him, he’s spent a great deal of time recording and distributing his music, hence the need to just pay for it, as paying for the songs also ensures a high-quality sound.
Charles Nii-Armah Mensah urged the bloggers to desist from that criminal acts, promising to reward any Blogger who shares his music links from his official digital store accounts into their websites without publishing the song for free downloads a brand new Range Rover.
However, the Ghanaian recording artiste announced his intentions of embarking on a United State of America (USA) music tour. The one month North American music tour is slated between June and July with venue yet to be disclosed. The series of concerts by Shatta Wale in different cities, or locations has the objective of promoting his latest album, Wonder Boy which was released in October 2019. The event will be powered by Leyla Entertainment.
