Now that the 16 charges against Jussie Smollett have been dropped and the rumored federal case is being investigated, the actor reportedly shifting his focus back to his career and image. As we’ve reported, many of Smollett’s Empire co-stars can’t wait for his return, but the actor remains written out of the final episodes of this season.Public opinion regarding the outcome of the case is divided. Supporters believe that Smollett is the victim not only of a physical assault but of being railroaded by the Chicago Police Department. Unbelievers who criticize Smollett’s account of his attack still state that he orchestrated this hoax in hopes of furthering his visibility and career.

According to TMZ, Smollett’s career is at a standstill, if not on the decline, due to the controversy surrounding the actor within the last few months. The report that he’s ordering his team to work on his public image and likability so that the potential of being cast in thefuture increases. The publication states that no matter what, Smollett claims he is sticking to his truth and will never deviate from his account of the attack—the same story he’s told since the beginning of the scandal.

It’s also reported that it isn’t his intention to stay away from interviews and appearances, as he desires to connect with the larger audience in an effort to share his story. TMZ previously reported that Smollett’s job offers have ceased after being arrested and charged, but that may work to his benefit if this time is taken to rebuild.
