The year 2018 may be one that Ghanaians will not forget in a hurry, given the increasing number of deaths of some prominent personalities.

Spanning from politics to academia, some of these legends suddenly left the world, leaving tongues wagging and numerous questions on the minds of Ghanaians. YEN.com.gh brings to you 6 Ghanaians whose deaths rocked the nation:
1. Kofi Annan
The late Kofi Annan passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018 in Bern Switzerland. He served as the seventh Secretary-General of the United Nations, from January 1997 to December 2006. In the year 2001, he co-won the Nobel Peace Prize with the United Nations.

2. VCRAC Crabbe
The late V.C.R.A.C Crabbe passed on after a short illness on Friday, September 7, 2018. Until his death, he was a professor of law at the Mountcrest University College in Accra.

3. Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur
Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur was a Ghanaian economist, academic and politician who was the fifth Vice-President of Ghana’s 4th Republic, in office from 6 August 2012 until 7 January 2017, under President John Dramani Mahama. Previously he was Governor of the Bank of Ghana from 2009 to 2012.

Atukwei John Okai was a Ghanaian poet, cultural activist and academic. He was Secretary-General of the Pan African Writers’ Association, and former president of the Ghana Association of Writer

5. J.H Mensah
J.H Mensah served in various public offices in his lifetime, the last being Minister for Public Sector Reform and National Institutional Renewal Programme from 2003 to 2005 as well as Senior Minister from 2005 to 2006 all during the Kufuor-led administration.

6. K.B Asante
Kwaku Baprui Asante was a Ghanaian diplomat, writer and politician. He was the Secretary to Ghana’s First President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. He served under most Heads of States in Ghana, starting from Nkrumah, and also served as the Principal Secretary at African Affairs Secretariat from 1960 to 1966. He died on 22 January 2018 at the age of 93
