5 dead, one missing at Bosomtwi floods

Five persons have been confirmed dead and one person currently missing after floods hit Esreso-Adagya in the Bosomtwi District of the Ashanti region, can report.

The incident which occurred on Thursday evening according to the District Chief Executive (DCE) Joseph Assumin who confirmed to, involved a private vehicle that tried to drive into the flooding water at a bridge that was completely overtaken by the water.

According to him, the vehicle was washed away including all six occupants only to take combined efforts of the Ghana National Fire Service, the police and the National Disaster Management Organisation to retrieve five of all six bodies early on Friday.

He disclosed that a rescue team is still combing the area looking for the last person explaining the situation has left various homes and flooded as well as rendered some roads inaccessible

Officials of NADMO are currently on ground accessing the extent of havoc wrecked on both public and private property with fears more rains could worsen the woes of the residents.
