Amakye Dede honored with key to the city of Worcester

The Mayor of Worcester Massachusetts Joseph M.Petty has presented the Key to the City of Worcester to legendary Highlife musician Amakye Dede.

Amakye Dede began his career in 1973 when he joined the Kumapim Royals as a composer and vocalist. The musician, who is well-known for his exciting live performances, has graced the stage with international artistes such Kanda Bongoman, Meiway, Julius Olando and a host of others.

The legendary Amakye Dede was given the key on Sunday during his performance at this year’s ‘Amakye Dede US Tour’ for his contribution and excellence in the creative arts industry.

This is not the first time the Mayor has given the Key to the City of Worcester to a Ghanaian celebrity—as celebrated musicians like Shatta Wale, Okyeame Kwame and Actor Abraham Attah have all been given the Key during their respective visits to the City

The tour which commenced on August 12, is expected to have Amakye Dede together with his Apollo High Kings Band thrill Ghanaian and US music fans with world-class performances in over 10 cities in America(USA.)
