Investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has exposed Hot FM journalist Justice Kweku Annan for allegedly scheming to malign his reputation.
Anas has dominated the headlines in recent weeks following the premier of his ‘Number 12’ documentary which tackled corruption in Ghana football.
The said exposé implicated over 77 referees and football officials, including Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kwesi Nyantakyi, who had to resign from his post following the public premier of the documentary.
However, the undercover journalist and his Tiger Eye PI team have seen their methods questioned, with Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, tagging him as “corrupt”, “evil” and “wicked”.
Anas’ credibility has also suffered some form of injury in recent weeks after the maverick lawmaker premiered his own exposé titled ‘Who watches the watchman’, which alleged that the undercover journalist took $100,000 to help discontinue a case.
In a three-minute exposé, Hot FM’s Justice Kweku Annan, who is a strong critic of Anas, was captured negotiating with undercover reporters on how to bring down the award-winning journalist.
In the video, the journalist is heard demanding GHc35,000 to help design a radio programme dedicated to maligning Anas and his team.
Meanwhile, Anas has also petitioned the National Media Commission (NMC) to investigate Hot FM and their journalist for using their platform to try to downplay his credibility.
“We posed as a relative to a man who had been exposed by Anas and his team and wanted to see Anas destroyed. We met Mr Annan on three occasions – twice at Kempinski hotel in Accra and Afrikiko around Flagstaff House area on June 1, June 5 and June 22 respectively. Justice asked us to pay an initial deposit of thirty-five thousand cedis to contribute to the project to destroy Anas, Tiger Eye Pi and Mr Baako and subsequently will come for extra money as the payment advances,” sections of Anas’ petition read.
