In an Instagram post, the embattled EC boss says the truth will always stand
Officials of the EC say they still recognize Charlotte Osei as the EC chairperson The dismissed electoral commissioner, Charlotte Osei, has again spoken on her removal by the president of Ghana.
In what looks like a coded Instagram post, the embattled EC boss referred to herself as ‘the truth’ passing through ‘fire’ in the wake of her removal. Using an African proverb, Charlotte Osei posted: “The truth passes through fire and never burns”. So far, the removal of Charlotte Osei has sent shock waves to some political critics of government like the NDC which believes the action is an attempt by the government to sabotage future elections in their favour.
The presidency justified the move to remove Charlotte Osei on the grounds of “incompetence and misbehavior”. YEN.com.gh understands that Charlotte Osei is still the head of the commission on its website.
The dismissal of the three public officers was as a result of the decision of a committee set up by the Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo.
This was done pursuant to article 146(4) of the Constitution, to investigate separate complaints brought against the three persons by Ghanaian citizens, recommended their removal from office.
