JOE JACKSON, who is the father of Michael Jackson, has died at the age of 89. It comes just two days after the anniversary of his superstar son’s death.
His grandson Taj Jackson confirmed the tragic news about the music manager online, after it was reported he had passed away at 3.30am in Los Angeles.

Joe’s grandson – the son of Tito Jackson – confirmed the news on Twitter in view of his 121,000 followers.
The 44-year-old retweeted an article from Ebony Magazine announcing his grandfather’s death, with the caption: “Thank you @EBONYMag. We see the love and support and appreciate it.”
He went on: “Disgusted by some of the comments I’m reading about my grandpa Joe by those who didn’t even know him… Joe was loved by our ENTIRE family and our hearts are in pain. Let us grieve without the nastiness.#ripthehawk.”
Latoya Jackson, 62, also penned a heartfelt message about her father.
On Twitter, she wrote:”You gave us strength, you made us one of the most famous families in the world.
“I am extremely appreciative of that, I will never forget our moments together and how you told me how much you cared. “RIP Joe Jackson.”(sic)
Rev Jesse Jackson, a Prominent civil rights activist and Baptist minister, offered his prayers and condolences to the family.
In a tribute on social media he penned: “Joe Jackson, brother beloved, patriarch and creator of one of the most talented American musical dynasties.
“We will remember him as long as his family’s music plays. Offering prayers and condolences to theJackson family. RIP”
Joe’s son Jermaine Jackson had been updating his 188,000 Twitter followers about his dad’s health in recent weeks.
And, according to The Mirror, the 63-year-old said this week: “He doesn’t have long. The family needs to be by his bedside – that’s our only intention in his final days.”
Jermaine had previously posted: “On the new story re Joseph. I’d like to be clear: I’ve no problem speaking up when it comes to the welfare of this family, but a journalist called me with information he clearly already had about my father. I confirmed certain details but “revealed” nothing.
“2: My father’s health is not good, but “dying” is a harsh word chosen by headline writers, not me. For however long he has left, my mother, siblings, and relatives want to be with him, without hindrance.”(sic)
Last week, Jermaine reportedly said the family knew nothing about his sickness and said they were barred from seeing the patriarch for four days after they discovered he was unwell.
He told the Daily Mail: “No one knew what was going on.

“We shouldn’t have to beg, plead and argue to see our own father, especially at a time like this. We have been hurting. We were not being told where he was and couldn’t get the full picture, even from the doctor. My mother was worried sick.”
Meanwhile, a poignant message was shared on a verified Twitter account for Joe on Sunday, however grandaughter Paris was unconvinced it was sent by her relative.
It read: “I have seen more sunsets than I have left to see. The sun rises when the time comes and whether you like it or not the sun sets when the time comes.”
Paris retweeted the tweet and wrote: “This is a beautiful tweet. Though it upsets me to see whoever is in charge of this account taking advantage of it.
“My grandfather did not tweet this. i’m not sure if he’s ever used this account.”

Joe’s death comes just two days after the death anniversary of Michael Jackson, who died on June 25, 2009.
Joe was the manager of The Jackson 5, which included Michael and Janet Jackson.
Their hits included I Want You Back, ABC and The Love You Save.
Joe was born in 1928 and married wife Katherine in 1949.
He went on to have 11 children.
