He said the media totally ran Ebony down when she was alive, but pretending to love her now that she is dead
Shatta Wale has said he is sorry for using some unkind words at media men last Sunday. This is unprecedented, as the undisputed dance hall king of Ghana for the first time, has begged to be forgiven for an ‘offense’. During the one-week observance of the passing of the late Ebony Reigns, Shatta Wale went berserk when he mounted the stage to speak.
Uncharacteristic of him, Shatta became emotional and eventually broke down shedding tears. But as soon as he got hold of the microphone, the ‘Taking Over’ hitmaker did the unthinkable. He went straight ahead wishing evil for Ghanaian media practitioners, ‘praying’ to God to punish them. According to Wale, the media discredited Ebony with many bad reports when she was alive.
However, after her death, the same media is professing love for the ‘Maame Hw3’ hitmaker. This, according to Shatta Wale, is hypocrisy and so God should deal with the media in a hard way. However, a report by Hitz FM sighted by YEN.com.gh has it that the dancehall king has apologized for his action. He reportedly explained the host of Showbiz Fylla on Hitz FM that he was taken away by emotions.
Wale is quoted as saying: “Because of people like you [the host], I will apologise. I will also apologise to some of them who felt hurt by what I said…” He further appealed with the media to criticize musicians constructively, but not in a way to make fun of them to the extent that it affects their emotions and work.
